HOUSE ENERGY & WATER APPROPRIATIONS BILL RELEASED

Today (May 14), House appropriators released the first draft of the Energy and Water Appropriations Bill for fiscal year 2027 ahead of the House Energy and Water Development Appropriations Subcommittee markup that is scheduled for tomorrow, Friday, May 15th at 9:00am ET (click here to tune in to the hearing). The $50.3 billion package is $3 billion under the President’s 2027 Budget Request released earlier this year which includes over a $400 million decrease to the Office of Environmental Management (EM), and a $5.7 billion decrease to the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). Of the appropriations items included in the bill of interest to ECA, two offices saw increases in budgets from the President’s Budget Request: The Office of Nuclear Energy and The Office of Science which see increases of $266 million and $1.385 billion respectively.
