Interest in reprocessing in the U.S. has renewed among communities, states, policymakers and companies to promote domestic production of nuclear fuel and the potential for reducing the volume and toxicity of nuclear waste. ECA released the ECA Guide for Local Governments Considering Hosting a Reprocessing Facility to Create Nuclear Fuel to educate local governments on what reprocessing is, and what communities need to consider if they want to pursue locating a reprocessing facility in their backyard.
