Municipal governments who host federal facilities are seeing new, large-scale energy, manufacturing, data center, privatized housing and barracks projects being proposed on federal land. These projects can bring significant economic opportunity, but they can also create new demands for municipal infrastructure, housing, and other support facilities outside the federal fence line. A key question for host communities and states is whether a project built by a private developer on leased federal land can be taxed, and if so, how the process works.
On November 11th, from 3:30pm to 4:30pm ET, join Energy Communities Alliance and the Association of Defense Communities for a webinar on how federal facility host communities can navigate the taxation of private projects on federal land. Speakers will provide an overview of the governing law, share practical experiences from communities that have addressed these issues, discuss state-specific considerations, including instances where states have granted tax exemptions for similar projects, and take your questions.
Speakers will include…
Facilitator: AJ Ridge - Director of Policy, Energy Communities Alliance
Seth Kirshenberg - Executive Director, Energy Communities Alliance
George Schlossberg - General Counsel, Association of Defense Communities
