A New Era for Energy Communities

Energy Communities Alliance is the organization of local governments that are adjacent to or impacted by Department of Energy (DOE) activities. Our board members include elected officials and administrators from local governments impacted by DOE.

ECA's mission is to bring together local government officials in Department of Energy-impacted communities to share information, establish policy positions, and advocate community interests in order to effectively address an increasingly complex set of environmental, regulatory, and economic development needs.

NEWLY RELEASED AND UPDATED: A Community Handbook on Nuclear Energy: Understanding Nuclear Energy and Alternatives for the Future
ECA has released an update of its report to assist local communities in identifying and understanding the myriad of issues associated with hosting a nuclear facility.  The report looks at developments over the past two years including the BRC's final report, DOE's Strategy for the Management and Disposal of Used Nuclear Fuel and High Level Radioactive Waste, and federal legislation that has been introduced.  In addition, ECA provides recommendations as local governments consider the role the can play in supporting nuclear energy and the development of nuclear facilities in their communities.
